Volunteers Needed for Will County Investment Board

    October 7, 2013

Pat is the Manager at the Will County Investment Board and is also a member of GWHRA and is looking for some volunteers to assist in the following projects.

    ·         Resume Review:  SHRM/GWHRA members can volunteer to help with resume reviews for job seekers.  Volunteers can offer to review a specified number of resumes a week. This opportunity is flexible in that you can review resumes on your own time during the week and offer feedback for the applicant.  Furthermore, you can remain anonymous if you wish.  This also gives you a chance to screen applicants for positions that you might be trying to fill!

    ·         Networking Groups: SHRM/GWHRA members and/or employers are invited to participate in speaking at a local networking group.  The “Career Café is a weekly networking event designed to connect people who are in search of employment. At the Career Café jobseekers will:

o   Meet other people who are also looking for work

o   Share job leads and ideas concerning your job search

    o   Learn job search techniques

o   Learn about area services available to people looking for work

o   Share your knowledge and experience with other job seekers

Career Café is held every Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in Room 519 of the JJC Renaissance Center, 214 N. Ottawa Street in downtown Joliet.

    ·         Workforce Investment Board membership (private-sector companies only).  The Workforce Investment Board is a county wide strategic group that is charged with providing policy and strategic direction for workforce programs designed for employers and residents of Will County.  Nominations for Board membership from private sector companies are currently being accepted.
