Board Positions Available

    October 14, 2014

    Good Day HR Professionals!

You have taken the steps by attending our meetings.  Why not take it even further by considering a position on the board for Grundy Will HR Association SHRM Affiliate?  This is a great way to get more involved with the Chapter and help take us to the next level.

We are looking to fill the following positions:

    Treasurer (Core Board Position)
The Treasurer is responsible for the financial affairs of the Chapter, including annual membership billing, annual financial reporting, depositing cash & checks, writing checks, and other duties as required.  The Treasurer is a member of the Core Board and will be expected to be at monthly member meetings, quarterly networking events and quarterly board conference calls.  This is a great position to obtain to advance within leadership roles within the board.

Core Leadership Area (CLA) Directors Roles:
The CLA Director roles are ancillary board positions that are less time consuming volunteer roles than the core board positions.  These positions do not require attendance at the monthly member meetings, quarterly networking events and quarterly board conference calls.  Monthly time commitment may range from 1-4 hours depending upon the role and the volunteer’s interest in the position.  These roles are a great way to build a relationship with other HR professionals on the board, learn more about the functional area, and gain visibility to other members in the chapter with a minimal time commitment!

    -Certification Director

Educates chapter members on certification options via HRCI and SHRM.  Encourages others to become certified.  Connects individuals who are planning on obtaining their certification to study together.

    -Workforce Readiness Director

Serves as an appointed member of the chapter board of directors.  Monitors and evaluates on a continuing basis local activities concerning workforce readiness issues and plans and encourages chapter involvement and activities impacting the workforce readiness arena.  Presents a report or update to the chapter president and fellow chapter members.  Works in cooperation with state-level workforce readiness advocates.

    -College Relations
Engages in local college outreach efforts. Develops partnerships with local universities who have HR programs (Lewis University, Governor’s State University, St. Francis).  Invites local HR students to attend GWHRA meetings as guests and encourages them to become members.  Ideally, would create mentorship program between students and HR professionals in chapter.

Terms for all the above positions are two years from 1/1/2015 to 12/31/2016.

I’m very excited to be taking over leadership of the chapter and look forward to building a great team!

Please let me know of your interest or any questions by email no later than 10/31/2014.
